Hi, I’m Kate! Welcome to the doghouse. I am a certified trainer through the pro program at CATCH, a canine trainers academy. This is a fear free and reward based training style that has been studied and proven to be the most effective way for dogs to learn and build a better relationship between them and their handler.
I am a professional equestrian with a bachelors degree in equine business management. I have spent the last 20+ years training horses, and riders. Horses and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly. For the past 20 years I have had an Australian cattle dog as my sidekick. I have been helping my equine clients with their dogs right along with their horses.
In 2022 I started officially fostering shelter dogs from ACCT Philly, the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia. My first foster, Shelly, had severe separation anxiety like I have never seen before with any of my dogs. This sparked a fire with my desire to get into dog training and behavior analysis, and modification. Every dog that I have fostered has come with a colorful arrangement of behavior issues. My spark turned into a bon fire, and I started volunteering at the shelter to walk dogs so I had access to more dogs with problems that could use some help.
I decided to take this onto a professional level and started researching how to become a certified trainer.
I have my dog training certification through the pro program at CATCH, a canine trainers academy.
